The Tyrone Golden Eagle Boys Soccer team had one of their best games of the season in a close 3-1 loss against Philipsburg Osceola Senior High School.
The boys came out strong and got a goal within the first 10 minutes of the game.
Bellwood defender junior Jake Baker crossed a ball from the outside to Bellwood forward freshman Noah Gulvas, who took one touch and rocketed a goal into the lower left corner of the goal, which was out of reach of the P-O keeper.
The boys held Philipsburg at 1-0 until around the 30-minute mark in the first half, when Philipsburg scored their first goal from a free-kick. There was a foul right outside the box, and P-O shot it in the bottom right corner.
The first half ended with a score of 1-1, leaving both teams eager to come out faster and stronger in the next half.
For the first 20 minutes of the second half, no goals were scored.
Halfway through, P-O chipped the ball over Tyrone goalie Devon Nardelli, just out of his reach.
Within the last 15 minutes, one of P-O’s players came down the field when Tyrone’s goalie was caught out of position and scored.
The final was 3-1 P-O, ending in a hard loss for Tyrone; still, this game was well-played.
The Golden Eagles’ record now stands at 0-6-1.
