I hate that basketball stats are centered around points. I know points are sexy and it’s what gets kids opportunities to play in college and it’s what gets pro ballplayers the big bucks. However, points are just a by-product of assists, rebounds, steals, and quality shot selection. If I sort our team stats on Assist to Turnover ratio I see that all but one of our losses come when our A/TO is underwater. All of our better wins have A/TO’s well above 1.00. Andrew – I enjoy reading your articles. They are well done, but write a little more about the details of what makes good basketball and spend less time hyping points. Just a thought.
