Bonsell Pitches Three-Hit Compete Game in 7-1 Win Over JV
The Tyrone Golden Eagles are 2-0 after their 7-1 win yesterday at home against Juniata Valley.
Junior Caiden Bonsell had a no-hitter going through five innings in his first varsity start.
Bonsell got the complete game win, giving up only three hits, all in the sixth. He struck out 5 batters and only walked one, giving up one run.
“It was pretty cool. It felt great being out there. My fastball and my curveball were working for me. I threw a couple of changeups too,” said Bonsell.
Bonsell’s only mistake of the day might have been talking about his no-hit bid between innings.
“He broke up his own no-no by mentioning it in the dugout in the sixth inning,” said Tyrone senior pitcher/outfielder Aiden Coleman.
The Tyrone bats came alive as well, putting up 7 runs against the Hornets.
Senior Luke Brooks led the team with 3 hits and 3 RBIs. Coleman also had 2 hits that scored 2 more runners.
Juniata Valley got their lone run in the 6th inning when Jake Johnson hit a solid ball that found the outfield, scoring the runner at second base.
The Golden Eagles look to continue their winning streak against a tough Mountain League opponent at Philipsburg today, April 5th.
