— Scoutmaster Mike Beckwith

The concert will benefit Local Eagle Scout candidate Ben Branstetter’s Eagle Scout project, which is to install new playground equipment at the Warriors Mark baseball field.  He is planning to purchase a set of regular size swings and a set of baby swings for the playground.

Branstetter is a junior at Tyrone Area High School and is a Boy Scout in Troop 20. He has been involved with scouts for about six years, working his way up the ranks.

“Ben is a good scout and a good leader. His project is a very large undertaking, but I know Ben will accomplish what he sets out to do,” said his Scoutmaster Mike Beckwith.

In order to earn an Eagle Scout badge, a scout must complete at least 21 merit badges and all 12 of the required merit badges. A scout must also complete a project that is beneficial to the community. Clearly, Ben has put a lot of work into his scouting and now he needs help raising funds to get supplies to do his Eagle Scout project.

In order to complete the Eagle Scout badge, a Scout must be active in their troop and patrol for at least six months after earning Star, earn an additional five merit badges beyond those earned for Star (total of 11), including three more from those required for Eagle.  They must also complete service projects totaling at least six hours of work, and serve in a leadership position in the Troop for at least six months.
