Athlete of the Week: Rebecca Lewis

Name: Rebecca Lewis

Sport: Track

Grade: 9

Accomplishments: Becca recently placed 2nd in the 400 at the Bellwood invite in the 400, placed 5th in the 200 and she is part of the 4×400 and 4×800 teams that recently got 4th place at the Bellwood Invitational. She is on the 4×800 team that is four seconds away from the school record.

Coach Brad Kanuch’s quote: 

“Rebecca has a bright future in track and field. She has not even scratched the surface of how good she can be. It is going to be very exciting watching her finish her freshman year and watching her progress until she is a senior.”


Eagle Eye: How did you first get involved in this sport?

Becca Lewis: I started track and field in 7th grade and I have been doing it ever since.

EE: What other sports do you play?

BL: Basketball and Soccer

EE: Favorite professional sports team?

BL: Tyrone Tennis

EE: Favorite professional athlete?

BL: Colin Yaudes

EE: Who do you admire the most? Why?

BL: My older siblings, they support me and come to my meets and games. I have always looked up to them. 

EE: Favorite band /musician?

BL: Pops.

EE: Favorite movie/show?

BL: Ten Things I Hate About You.

EE: Favorite food?

BL: Steak

EE: What advice would you give younger athletes?

BL: Practice makes perfect.

EE: What are your future goals?

BL: To go to college and hopefully do well in track.

Athlete of the Week: Kolten Miller

Name: Kolten Miller

Sport: Track

Grade: 10

Accomplishments: Kolten is currently leading the team in points. This means he has recorded the most 1st,2nd, and 3rd places on the team this season.

“Kolten works extremely hard and genuinely loves track and field. He is always putting in extra work to get better and help get his team better. I can’t wait to watch him progress over the next two years.”

KM: I did well at the middle school track days, so I decided to sign up for the junior high team.

KM: Football

KM: Pittsburgh Steelers

KM: Kawhi Leonard

EE: Who do you admire the most? Why?

KM: My parents because they support me in everything I do.

KM: Motley Crue or J. Cole

KM: The Dirt

KM: Steak

EE: What advice would you give younger athletes?

KM: The only way to get better is to work.

KM: To go to medical school to become an anesthesiologist.
