Accomplishments:
Barr has been a regional qualifier for Uzelac Gymnastics in all four of the years that she has been a level 10 gymnast. She also placed first at level seven nationals. The standout senior’s hard work has made her ultimate dream a reality; Barr has achieved a gymnastics scholarship to West Chester University.
Eagle Eye: How did you first get involved in this sport?
Olivia Barr: “My brother did baseball in the same complex and so we decided to sign me up for classes!”
EE: What other sports do you play?
OB: “None”
EE: Favorite sports team?
OB: “Pittsburgh Penguins”
EE: Favorite professional athlete?
OB: “Shawn Johnson”
EE: Favorite Food?
OB: “Anything with potatoes.”
EE: What is your favorite part of the sport?
OB: “Always having a challenge and it keeps me in shape.”
EE: What is your greatest memory from this sport?
OB: “Getting to go to Las Vegas for a meet. It was so much fun. I got first on floor.”
EE: What is your greatest motivation to succeed?
OB: “Knowing that there are younger girls at the gym looking up to me. I want to be a good role model and set a good example for them.”
EE: What advice would you give younger athletes?
OB: “Even though it’s very tough mentally and physically, keep pushing yourself because it’s worth it in the end.”
EE: What are your future goals?
OB: “Attend West Chester University and become a Physician Assistant.”
