Athlete of the Week: Jason Schopp

Each week of the season the Eagle Eye chooses an Athlete of the Week from nominations made by the varsity head coaches.

Senior wrestler and Athlete of the Week Jason Schopp

Sport: Wrestling

Grade: 12

Accomplishments:

Jason wrestles at 138 lbs.  On Friday and Saturday January 17-18, Tyrone competed in the Richland  Tournament.  Jason had a perfect weekend – going 4-0.  He had 3 pins and a 16-0 technical fall.  One of his pins was in the finals against a wrestler ranked 14th in the state.  Jason ran his record to 14-4.

“Jason is one of our hardest workers.  He is also one of our most dedicated wrestlers. All the hard work he put toward wrestling in the off-season is paying off this season.”

1.     How did you first get involved in this sport?

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson came to me in a dream and said, “Hey jabroni, wrestle!”

2.    What other sport(s) do you play?

Madden

3.    Favorite professional sports team?

The Pittsburgh Steelers, the “Mighty Ducks”

4.    Favorite professional athlete?

 Josh Koshcheck, Chris Honeycutt

5.    Who is your hero? Why?

 Url Harris, because he taught me the basics of wrestling and life.

6.    Favorite band/musician?

NWA

7.    Favorite movie?

Thankskilling

8.    Favorite food?

Sushi

9.    What advice would you give younger athletes?

Three things are infinite:

1.) Human creativity.

2.) The universe.

3.) The amount of zubats in a dark cave.

10.  What are your future goals?

 To wrestle for Edinboro on a scholarship and to catch them all is my real quest, to train them is my cause.
