Athlete of the Week: Carrie Vance

Each week the Eagle Eye staff chooses an Athlete of the Week from nominations made by the vasity head coaches.

Carrie Vance – October 25 Athlete of the Week

Sport: Soccer

Grade: 11

Accomplishment:

Carrie scored two goals and an assist in Tyrone’s 5-2 playoff win over Bishop Carroll on October 22.   The win was Tyrone’s first playoff victory in school history.

Coach Bruce Makin’s quote:

Carrie has been a key to our victories this season by providing leadership as an attacker. In our 11 wins this season, Carrie has provided 18 goals and 5 assists. She has worked hard this season and was very determined to provide leadership for the team. She goes about her business in a quiet manner and lets her scoring do the talking.”

1.     How did you first get involved in this sport?

I started playing AYSO when I was eight and I have loved it ever since.

US Women’s National Soccer Team

Alex Morgan

5.    Who is your hero? Why?

My mom, for all of the love and support she always gives me.

Forrest Gump

Chicken wings

9.    What advice would you give younger athletes?

Always work your hardest because every moment counts.

10.  What are your future goals?

To come back even stronger next year and go all the way to districts, hopefully for a second time.
