Athlete of the Week: Blake Brooks
Each week the Eagle Eye chooses an Athlete of the Week based on nominations made by the Tyrone varsity head coaches.
Sport: Varsity Basketball
Grade: 12
Accomplishment:
Blake scored 21 points in the championship game vs. Chestnut Ridge to help Tyrone win the Kiwanis Holiday Tournament. His hot shooting at the start of the game helped Tyrone get a quick lead, and they never looked back. Blake was named the Tournament MVP for his performance both nights.
Coach George Gripp’s Quote:
“I am so proud of how Blake and the rest of the team played during the two nights of the tournament. Blake has become a very good shooter for us and it was on display in the Championship game. He and his teammates are a hard working group that have been very dedicated to the program for many years. This group has set some high goals this year, that we will continue to work toward.”
