Ask the Coach with Head Coach Jason Wilson
Each week of the season Head Coach Jason Wilson sits down with the Eagle Eye sports staff for an exclusive interview.
Eagle Eye: How do you feel about winning your first Backyard Brawl ?
Coach Wilson: It was good to get the win, but it was better to just get our first win under our belts. Hopefully there will be many more from here on out.
EE: When playing for coach Franco did you ever think that someday you would replace him ?
CW: No, I had no intention of coaching until I graduated and wanted to get back in it. So I started off as an volunteer, then to an assistant and the next step from there was head coach.
EE: The first time the team has gone 2-0 since 2010, any thoughts ?
CW: Yeah, we better not get our heads too big! With our schedule you never know who’s going to be on and how things are going to go. Things might go your way and things may not. Team are different every year, so starting off 2-0 is nothing major, we just have to make sure we stay focus and stay at it this week against Huntingdon.
EE: Going into the Central game what was on your mind?
CW: Don’t give up any big plays and we could win.
EE: Were you surprised by anything in the game?
CW: No, not really, I think the game went just like we wanted it to. We expected it to be a tough game as a rivalry game.
EE: What was the key moment that led to the victory?
CW: Coming out after half time and taking the lead, also when they went back down to score and missed the extra point. That made it 13-13 which probably gave us the momentum to go back down and score again and retake the lead.
EE: What are your thoughts heading into next week?
CW: Stay focused and keep attacking on defense. Keep getting better offensively and keep putting points on the board.
EE: what will be the main focus in this week’s practice?
CW: To stay focused. To keep progressing and to keep attacking. Also to get back at our basic stuff.
