Asher Christine wins Mr. Funicelli’s March Madness Challenge
Congratulations to Asher Christine for wining Mr. Funicelli’s March Madness Challenge scoring 139 out of a possible 150 points with the second closest competitor scoring 125 points.
When informed about his victory, Christine was very surprised. “Are you serious? Wow, I didn’t expect that! That’s awesome!” said Christine.
Christine will be rewarded with a $10 Sheetz gift card.
Along with the Eagle Eye’s regular March Madness Competition, Tyrone Chemistry teacher, Michael Funicelli, ran his own March Madness Challenge.
Each person chose ten teams from this year’s tournament field. Points were earned by how far each team goes in the tournament. The only stipulation was that three of the ten teams had to be seeded 10-26, two of the teams had to be seeded 6-9, and the other five teams could be seeded anywhere in the competition.
Christine was one of thirty students who participated in the competition this year.
Mr. Funicelli decided to do this challenge because it was unique compared to the typical March Madness brackets and forced those who entered to choose weaker teams and predict upsets in the tournament.
