April GACTC Student of the Month: Rebekah Schleppy

GACTC teacher Ms. Sapper’s quote:

“Rebekah is dedicated to the field of Visual Arts. She wants to pursue areas of this field as a profession and takes class very seriously. She is an A student, is on National Technical Honor Society and is working as self-contracted, freelance artist and graphic designer. She shows leadership qualities and often helps other students.

Rebekah has earned straight A’s for every marking period that she has been in the program and is a member of National Technical Honor Society. Rebekah’s idea was chosen to be painted in PennDot’s Paint the Plow competition this year and was selected as the judge’s choice for overall winner in Blair County. Rebekah is also an active member of Aevidum and Skills USA. She is going to states for Skills Chapter Display.”


Eagle Eye: Why did you choose this program?

Rebekah Schleppy: “I always had a love for art and I wanted to further my knowledge in it.”

EE: What is your favorite GACTC memory? Why?

RS: “The principal asked me to draw a portrait for him. This helped me become known as a really good student, and a lot of freelance work came after that because people saw my talent.”

EE: What do you like about the program that you’re in?

RS: “The teacher is amazing, and I have learned a lot in the past three years. Plus I’ve made some really good friends during my time up there.”

EE: Do you have any advice for future GACTC students?

RS: “Learn as much as you possibly can. It will benefit your career in the future. Also, enjoy every minute while you’re there.”

EE: What are your post-graduation plans?

RS: “To attend the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and get a Bachelor’s degree in graphic design.”
