The Lady Eagles swept the Central Dragons on Thursday, September 25, in Martinsburg, improving the Eagles’ record to 5-6 on the season.
Senior libero Abby Anthony recorded her 500th career dig in the third set. The team rallied around her and celebrated this accomplishment.
“I think this game was really good for our confidence going into the rest of the season,” said senior right side Sidney Goodwin, “We really felt like we were working as a team instead of playing individually.”
In the first set, the Lady Eagles started strong and stayed focused on serve and receive.
Sophomore Amaya Martin went on a 7-point serving run, 3 of which were aces. They let up the pressure some in the middle of the set but pushed through and came back winning the set 25-23.
The second set wasn’t much different. The Eagles stayed strong throughout the set and didn’t let up. They had lots of energy and were pleased with how they were playing as a team.
Senior rightside hitter Sarilla Hensley went on a 10-point service run to get the team a lead, finishing out the set with a final score of 25-22.
In the third set, the team was ready to come out strong. They played hard throughout the entire set and had no pits during the set.
They finished out the set with a final score of 25-13.
The Lady Eagles hope to continue to improve their record with two upcoming games this week.
