Attention SENIORS: Would you like to VOTE in the upcoming primary election for President and other state and local offices?
If so, TODAY is the final day to do so.
In order to vote in the Pennsylvania primary you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age by the general election on November 8, 2016
- Be a citizen of the United States for at least one month before the election
- Have been a resident of the district in which you are registering for at least 30 days before the election.
This year for the first time ever in Pennsylvania you can register to vote online.
Pennsylvania has a closed primary system, so in order to vote in the Democratic or Republican primary, you must be registered as a member of the party.
Independent voters cannot vote in the Democratic or Republican primary in Pennsylvania.
Moreover, you cannot switch parties on primary election day. Meaning, if you are registered as a Republican you may only vote in the Republican primary and vice versa if you are registered as a Democrat.
Register online through the Pennsylvania Department of State’s online application (click the link to register). You will need your Pennsylvania driver’s license or PennDOT ID card. If you don’t have one, you may still register online and you will be forwarded to the appropriate county voter registration office for processing.
