Mrs. Leslie Hasson has been a member of the Tyrone Area School District’s Elementary school staff for 34 years. She will retire at the end of this year.
According to those who worked with her, Mrs. Hasson’s dedicated years of service have touched the lives of many students that have entered her class.
“I have been a member of the Tyrone community all of my life. All of my life I had wanted to be a teacher but I never imagined that I would end up teaching in my home town. The fact that I can reach out to kids that grew up in the same neighborhood as I has been an honor,” said Mrs. Hasson.
Before Hasson began teaching she worked at various summer jobs. But her dedication for becoming a teacher led her quickly to go to college major in education. According to Hasson, her favorite memories were formed when “working with the smaller schools and building close relationships with all of her students.”
She also loved being involved in the children’s lives communicating with the parents, while helping them build their child’s future to the best that it could be.
“I just loved the way that the job brought you into the lives of the students; I have had the pleasure of helping a lot of the youth from Tyrone Area School District, and have made great friends and great relationships with a lot of them.” Hasson said.
Now that her career as a teacher has come to an end, Mrs. Hasson intends to travel with her husband all throughout the United States. She wants to visit multiple area attractions such as: The Grand Canyon, The Golden Gate Bridge, Las Vegas, and other famous attractions.
