Athlete of Week: Joe Kohler

Name: Joe Kohler

Sport: Track

Grade: 10

Accomplishments:

Joe qualified for states and took 7 seconds off his best time in the 1600 meter run with a 4:36 at districts. 

Coach Chris Shedd’s Quote:

“Joe is already achieving great success, but I think he is only just beginning to test himself to see how much faster he can go. I’m looking forward to him having another breakthrough moment, maybe later this week at States! If he does, he could make it into the finals on Saturday.”

EE: How did you first get involved in this sport?

Joe: Running in Jr High Track, and doing well in Track and Field Day

EE: What other sport(s) do you play?

Joe: Cross Country and Basketball

EE: Favorite professional sports team?

Joe: Cleveland Cavaliers

EE: Favorite professional athlete?

Joe: LeBron James

EE: Who is your hero? Why?

Joe: Coach Shedd because he is a great guy, a tremendous coach, and very handsome

EE: Favorite band/musician?

Joe: Chance the Rapper

EE: Favorite movie?

Joe: Shawshank Redemption

EE: Favorite Food?

Joe: Lobster

EE: What advice would you give younger athletes?

Joe: Never doubt yourself, and always push yourself to the extreme

EE: What are your future goals?

Joe: Study aerospace engineering in college, and maybe run

Athlete of the Week: Parker Mitchell

Name: Parker Mitchell

Sport: Track

Grade: 10

Accomplishments:

Parker finished second at districts in the 200 m and qualified for the state meet this weekend at Shippensburg. 

Coach Chris Shedd’s Quote:

“Parker has been steadily improving as the season has progressed. He will need to continue that trend this Friday at States in order to pass through the preliminaries in the 200 meters to reach the semi-finals on Saturday. I’m feeling good about his chances!”

Parker: Track and Field days in elementary school

Parker: Football and Basketball

EE: Favorite professional sports team?

Parker: East High Wildcats

EE: Favorite professional athlete? 

Parker: LeBron James

EE: Who is your hero? Why?

Parker: Cullen Raftery because he started the #wave movement

Parker: High School Musical
