Athlete of the Week: Cullen Raftery
Name: Cullen Raftery
Sport: Track
Grade: 12
Accomplishments:
Cullen finished second at districts and set a new personal record in the triple jump with 43 feet and 6 1/2 inches. He will compete at the PIAA State Track and Field Championships next week in Shippensburg.
Coach Chris Shedd’s Quote:
“Cullen has fully recovered from his early-season injuries to become very consistent. Once he reaches a new PR it becomes his new standard jump. Both [Adam and Cullen] will be greatly missed next year. They provide great leadership and are great examples of work ethic for their younger teammates.”
EE: How did you first get involved in this sport?
Cullen: During the elementary track and field days and I carried through with the sport in high school.
EE: What other sports do you play?
Cullen: Football
EE: Favorite professional sports team?
Cullen: Pittsburgh Penguins
EE: Favorite professional athlete?
Cullen: Suave Carter
EE: Who is your hero? Why?
Cullen: My mother. She taught me everything and has been through everything with me.
EE: Favorite band/musician?
Cullen: Kid Cudi
EE: Favorite movie?
Cullen: Django Unchained

Cullen: French Toast
EE: What advice would you give to younger athletes?
Cullen: Never give up. Ride the wave. Wherever it takes you is wherever you’ll go. Always set your goals.

Cullen: Complete Architectural Engineering at Penn State University Park.

Accomplishments:
Finished third at districts in the 800-meter run with a personal best run of of 2.01.10. Adam will compete at the PIAA State Track and Field Championships next week in Shippensburg.

Adam Zook: My brother ran track and my mom encouraged me to get involved.

Adam: Cross Country, Mock Trial

Adam: Andrew McCutchen

Adam: I don’t believe in heroes. They will only disappoint you.
