YAN Halloween Highway: Photo Slideshow and Car Decorating Contest Voting

The 2020 YAN Halloween Event adapted to the pandemic by moving outside and hosting a “drive-through” Halloween Highway for Tyrone kids ages pre-K through 4th grade.

YAN Co-Adviser Cummins McNitt was pleased with the community turnout and also the dedication of the students and faculty who volunteered to keep this annual event going despite the pandemic.

“The Youth Action Network would like to thank everyone for their help at last night’s Halloween Highway. It was the first time for us to take this event outside and by all appearances, it went off quite well,” said McNitt.

The event hosted 175 cars and 586 visitors.

Each child received treats at each of three stations on their way around the middle and high school campus. Halloween treat bags given out to visitors by representatives of nine different student and teacher groups.

“The public response was overwhelming. Even though the evening was chilly and overcast, TASD was shining bright all night long,” said McNitt. “We were delighted to have more than 25 cars and trucks arrive decorated for the event. There were some amazing vehicles that brought many smiles and laughs.”

All of the decorated vehicles were entered into the Eagle Eye’s Car Decorating Contest. The top 12 finalists were named by the Eagle Eye and members of the community can vote for their favorites.
