How has the pandemic affected your life?
The pandemic has affected my outside-of-school activities and has affected my school year. It also affected my mental health greatly and caused me to live in a state of mind that I never thought I’d go to.
What have you learned as a result of the pandemic?
I have learned more about myself in this past year than I thought was possible. I learned how I handle certain situations, about my family, how to learn and prioritize my schooling, etc. If I hadn’t gone through this, I don’t know if I would be who I am today, struggle with the things I struggle with, or know the things I know.
What worries are you experiencing now? How are you currently coping?
I am currently not worried about anything regarding Covid. In the past, I was concerned for my dad because he is immunocompromised, but after my mom and I got Covid in November we found out he was not affected by the virus.
What are some positive things that have come out of the pandemic?
I was able to get a job babysitting my neighbors’ kids. I had the opportunity to teach them, take care of them, and spend time with their family while earning money for a car. I also got to spend a lot of time with my immediate family and we grew very close because of it.
What are your hopes for the future?
I hope we are able to return to normal and use this experience to learn and prepare for future generations. I also hope next year’s seniors won’t have to deal with losing their senior prom and the overall involvement with activities.
