The Tyrone Lady Eagles volleyball team lost to Bald Eagle Area in a 3-2 set match on Tuesday night. While disappointed by loss, the Lady Eagles were buoyed by the fact that they are one of the only teams in the league to take BEA to five matches this season.

“It was an intense match with really good defense by Tyrone,” said head coach Michael Kraft,” I give the girls a game plan and they believe and they’re passionate. When they have belief and passion, they can beat anyone. It’s amazing how far they have come. We just came short tonight against a good team.”

The set matches were 25-22 BEA, 25-21 T, 25-17 BEA, 25-22 T, and 15-10 BEA.

Seniors Carly Crofcheck and Anslee Walk were honored during Tuesdays match.

“Carly and Anslee have endured my tough coaching and have come a long way,” said Kraft, “they have been leaders for this team and they both play positions in which the fame is never present. They do the little things that go unrecognized.”

“I love my team so much,” said Crofcheck, “I can’t wait to watch them play next year and see how far they’ve come from this years season.”

“They are dedicated to their teammates and will do great things in life. Carly and Anslee are great role models and mentors for the younger girls on the team. I am proud of their efforts on and off the court,” said Kraft.

“I’m going to miss playing with Anslee and my sister,” said Lea Crofcheck, “they are both gread volleyball players and are great leaders on the court.”

Lea Crofcheck had 31 assists, three aces and five digs. Emily Fusco had 10 kills, four aces, seven digs

“Our record doesn’t match how competitive we are,” said Kraft, “We are right there with the best teams in this district. The girls are excited and they deserve to be.”

Alexis Cannistraci led in stats with 11 kills, an ace, a block, and two digs. Carly Crofcheck had three kills and three digs and Torrie Foy had 12 digs.

“Their outside hitters hit right to me almost every time,” said Walk,” even though they weren’t always easy. I battled hard because it was my last home game, and I wanted to beat Bald Eagle more than anything.”

Anslee Walk dominated in the back with 50 digs.

Tyrone Girls Volleyball will enter the playoffs for the first time in its history on Monday, November 2 at Central.
