Tyrone cruised past a struggling Central-Martinsburg team with an exceptional 6-2 road victory on Monday night. Tyrone showed off a crafty offense while stifling defense kept the opposition scoreless for most of the game.

“At the end of the game my pockets were empty, I was dropping dimes left and right,” said junior Andrew Pearson on his three assists.

To start off the game Tyrone showed a commanding presence on the pitch. Tyrone kept possession of the ball for a vast majority of the first twenty minutes and dissected the Central defense with clinical passing. This thrifty offense eventually led to an Andrew Pearson volley goal after Corey Johnston assisted by flicking the ball into the air away from Central’s defense.

Tyrone’s second goal came after defenseman Nick Kosko poached a ball on a poor Central pass and sent Corey Johnston on an inside run to the box. Corey easily knocked the ball past the opposing keeper to make score 2-0 Tyrone.

The third goal of the first half came after a Central defensive miscue allowing Corey Johnston to sneak past the defense and bury the ball in the back of the net. Andrew Pearson was awarded the assist after switching the ball from the far side. The score was 3-0 in favor of Tyrone to end the first half.

Coming out of the half time break Tyrone did not let off the gas. Minutes into the second half Corey Johnston dribbled through the Central defense and finished a shot just inside the 18 to award him his third goal of the night, completing his hat-trick.

Twenty minutes later Eagles captain Asher Christine converted Tyrone’s fifth unanswered goal after finishing a shot right on the goal line on a laser beam pass across the face of the goal by Andrew Pearson. This goal netted Pearson his third assist of the game.

Shortly after Central finally answered back with a goal of their own after an unmarked man rushed into the Tyrone box and converted a shot into the top right corner.

Minutes later Senior Jesse Daughenbaugh scored the sixth goal for Tyrone on a shot which careened past the Central goal keeper on a tight angle. Senior Tyler Eaken assisted on the play.

Central’s final consolation goal came after a missed defensive clear. The score stood 6-2 at the end of full time. With this win Tyrone improves to 6-2-1 in the Mountain League and 6-4-1 overall.
