The Tyrone Marching Band band placed 10th out of 23 bands at the Tournament of Band’s Atlantic Coast Championships in Harrisburg with a score of 87.29.

Tyrone Band Director David Hock was pleased with the band’s performance.

I think they really connected with the music emotionally

“I think they really connected with the music emotionally,” said Hock, “they feel really good about it. [Next year] I look forward continuing our success, keep working hard and trying to improve.”

The band would like to thank the Band Boosters for all their hard work supporting the band throughout the year.

The group comprised of parents of the current and past band members and volunteers. The Boosters raise funds for the band by running the band’s food booth at Gray Field.

Unfortunately some of the band boosters have to miss the band’s half time performances while working the concession stand.

“I don’t feel bad [about missing the performances] because I do get to see them at the practices, and they need the support of the parents,” said band booster and parent of a musician Kim Webster, “I go to all of the competitions which is most important.”

The band would like to thank senior member Emily Detwiler and senior majorette Danielle Heichel for their dedication and leadership all season.

The younger members of the band gained a lot of experience and are looking forward to next season.

“Band has definitely made me better at playing and opened my musical vocabulary because I didn’t know what a crescendo was,” said first-year marching band member Joe Davis, “I might do indoor because the marching band is pretty much exhausting, but it’s pretty much worth doing.”
