Swim Team Splits with Altoona and Loses to Central Cambria

The boys and girls swim teams traveled to Altoona High on Saturday, January 23, and to Central Cambria High on Monday, January 25.

The girls defeated Altoona, but fell short to Central Cambria. The boys fell to both teams.

Girls: Tyrone 91, Altoona 74

The girls relay team of Victoria Reese, Sarah E. Hoover, Madison Coleman, and Sarah M. Hoover finished in first place in the 200 Medley Relay (2:04.57) and second in the 200 yard free Relay (1:55.43).

Senior Madison Coleman placed first in the 50 Free (26.26) and second in the 100 butterfly (1:10.53).

Also adding points was Bellwood Freshman Evalyna Aiken, taking second in the 200 free (2:27.29) and third in the 100 fly (1:22.37).

Junior Victoria Reese took second in both the 200 IM (2:44.32), and 100 backstroke (1:14.09).

Senior Sarah E. Hoover took first in both the 500 free (6:08.98), and the 100 breast (1:17.60).

Boys: Altoona 91, Tyrone 44

The boys relay team of Kamden Bailor, Rylan Bailor, Hunter Gregg and Colin Yaudes placed second in both the 200 free relay and 400 free relay.

Bellwood senior Hunter Gregg placed first in the 200 free (2:12.34) and second in the 50 free (27.24).

Bellwood senior Rylan Bailor took first in the 50 free (26.61) and third in the 100 free (1:07.76).

Colin Yaudes swam a (7:06.85) in the 500 free, and took 4th in the 100 breast (1:26.62).

Spencer Dunklebarger placed first in both the 100 free (59.84) and 100 breast (1:18.28).

“Although we have a small team, our individual times have continued to improve a lot and that is the most important thing we can focus on right now,” said Gregg.


Girls: Central Cambria 93, Tyrone 77

The girls relay team of Victoria Reese, Sarah E. Hoover, Madison Coleman, and Sarah M. Hoover finished first in both the 200 medley relay (2:07.59) and 200 free relay (1:52.80).

Senior Madison Coleman placed first in both the 50 free (26.71) and 100 free (59.30).

Senior Sarah E. Hoover finished first in the 100 breast with a time of (1:17.57).

Junior Victoria Reese placed first in the 100 back (1:12.24) and second in the 200 IM (2:45.53).

Senior Lucia Isenberg took second in the 100 back (1:17.12).

Boys: Central Cambria 117, Tyrone 32

The boys relay team of Spencer Dunklebarger, Rylan Bailor, Hunter Gregg, and Colin Yaudes placed second in both the 200 Free Relay and 400 Free Relay.

Senior Hunter Gregg placed first in the 200 Free (2:10.32) and 5th in the 50 free (27.30).

Spencer Dunklebarger placed first in the 100 free, with a (59.08), a .76 second drop from his previous time, and fourth in the 100 breast (1:19.12).

Senior Colin Yaudes took second in the 50 free (26.36) and third in the 100 breast, dropped 9 seconds off of his time from Saturday (1:17.38).

Overall, both teams showed much improvement through both meets and swam some personal bests.

Both the boys and the girls have their first virtual meet of the season tonight, January 28th. They will then take on Richland on Saturday at home.
