Has the Altoona Curve management finally gone off the rails?

As teenagers between the ages of 14 and 18, we grew up with Steamer. Almost every member of the Eagle Eye News staff has Steamer photos, autographs, memories and bobble heads alike.  Every kid within a 100 mile radius of PNG Field probably has attended or at least knows of the Altoona Curve and their beloved mascot.

The idea that Steamer will no longer roam the diamond and the stands at PNG Field is an outrage.

What kind of an example are you setting for the youth of America by suggesting that Steamer can retire at the age of 16?

The editors and staff of the Tyrone Eagle Eye News, the voice of Tyrone Area High School, demand that the Altoona Curve reconsider the forced retirement of everyone’s favorite green steam engine.

Save Steamer!
