One of the toughest decisions that every senior has to make is what to do after graduation. Whether it be a two year associates degree program, a four year undergraduate degree, the military, or something else, it is a decision that should be celebrated.

On May 11, 2017, seniors are invited to do just that by wearing clothing to represent their school or other post-secondary destination on “Decision Day 2017.”

It would be great to see every senior and staff member all representing their college and career decisions

On this day, seniors are asked to wear a t-shirt or other clothing representing their intended college, military branch, job, etc.

Events like this are common at some schools, but this is a first for Tyrone High School.  The event is being planned by post-secondary school councilor Ms. Charlie Wynn.

“It would be great to see every senior and staff member all representing their college and career decisions,” said Wynn.

On May 11, students and staff will gather for a group photo, with the staff wearing clothing representative of the college, military branch, or other post-high school path that led them to Tyrone, and the seniors wearing something representing their own post-secondary choices.

“If you don’t have any merchandise from your school let me know by next Friday the 28th which school you need and what size t-shirt you want, and I can try to get admissions offices to send us something,” said Wynn.

Schools often seek this kind of free publicity, so it could be a way to get a free shirt, according to Wynn.

Seniors will be released to the cafeteria at 2:30 that day, where they will be given a treat and will be asked to sign the Class of 2017 Decision Day banner.

Flyers will be posted in classrooms to help spread the word and remind everyone.

Many seniors have yet to tell Mrs. Wynn what their post-graduation plans are, and are reminded to tell her as soon as possible.
