Robison leads Eagles on senior night, winning all three throwing events

Tyrone’s varsity girls and boys track teams both beat Southern Huntingdon and West Branch on Senior Night in Tyrone, Thursday April 10th.

Highlights for the Golden Eagles included Mariah Robison winning in all three throwing events to power the Tyrone girls victories over Southern Huntingdon 106-43 and West Branch 103-42.

Jordyn Swogger was first in the 200 and 400 and Jordan Wiser succeeded in the 800 and 1600.

“I was happy with my time in the 200 and 400, it was the same time as states last year,” said Swogger after the meet.

“I was happy that I won but my times could have been better. How this season has gone I feel like I’m doing good this year. My goal is to make states,” said Wiser.

Tyrone’s boys swept Southern Huntingdon 104-46 and West Branch 100-49, winning all three relays.

Prior to the meet the seniors and their families were honored.  The 2014 seniors are Bailey Christine, Shawn Lehner, John Lewis, Travis Myers, Alexa Patton, Johnny Payne, Brandon Plowman, Mariah Robison, Brian Sprankle, Israel Stroud, Jordyn Swogger and Nathaniel Yeager.

Girls Track Events

Junior Michaela Diehl placed first in the 100 dash with a run of 13.64 seconds and Alexa Patton placed third with 14.02 seconds.

Senior Jordyn Swogger placed first in the 200 dash with 26.44 seconds. Michaela Diehl placed second with 28.58 seconds and Alexa Patton placed third with 28.8 seconds.

In the 400 dash Swogger placed first with 1.01 and Emily Beam placed third with 1:10.28.

Sophomore Jordan Wiser placed first in the 800 run with 2:41 and Beam placed third with 2:55.

In the 1600 run, first was Wiser with 6:03 and in the 3200 run Grace McKernan placed second with 14:44.

In the 300 hurdles freshman Cassie Friday placed second with 58.03.

The girls 400 relay placed first with a team of Diehl, Swogger, Patton and Grabill with 58.68 and the girls 1600 relay placed first with a team of Minnich, Beam, Swogger and Diehl with 4:55. For the 3200 relay Tyrone placed first with 12.22, team of McKernan, Beam, Case and Friday.

Girls Field Events

Placing third in the high jump was junior Davina Lee with a height of 4-2. In the long jump, junior Marin Grabill placed first with a jump of 13-6 and Lee placed third with 12-2 ½. Lee also placed third in the triple jump with a jump of 29-7.

Senior Mariah Robison placed first in shot put with a throw of 30-0 and freshman Shaniah Lowery placed third with 25-2.

Robison placed first in Discus with a throw of 70-3 and Hope Wilson placed third with 62-4 ½ .

In javelin Robison placed first with 76-10 and Lowery placed third with 67-10 ½.

In pole vault, Grabill placed second with 6-0.

Boys Track Events

Junior Cameron Bakhsheshe won first in the 100 meter with a time of 11.25 seconds and junior Connor Harper took second with 23.73 seconds.

In the 800 sophomore Sean Isenberg took first with 2:21 and Conner Stroud not far behind with 2:27, taking third for Tyrone.

Sophomore Adam Zook stole second place in the 1600 run with a time of 5:13.33 and taking third was senior Travis Myers with 5:19.23.

In the 3200 run Zook took second with 12:00 and Myers third with a 12:01 time.

Taking third in the 110 hurdles was senior John Lewis with a time of 18.19 and in the 300 hurdles with 49.45.

In the 400 meter relay, Tyrone team of Scott Goss, Connor Harper, Cameron Bakhsheshe and Duane Boone dominated first with 46.30 seconds and in the 1600 relay team of Jake Makdad, Cullen Raftery, Duane Boone and Connor Harper took first with a 3:49 time.

In the 3200 relay, team of Bailey Christine, Jake Makdad, Connor Stroud and Sean Isenberg placed first with 9:54.

Boys Field Events

Sophomore Scott Goss took third in high jump with a height of 5-2. In long jump, Cullen Raftery placed first with a jump of 16-11 ½ and Noah Tepsic taking second with 16-9. Raftery also placed third in the triple jump with 37-1.

Junior Elijah Sleeth took first in the shot put with 38-8 and sophomore Nick Bonsell placed third with 36-6 ½.

In the discus Bonsell placed first with a throw of 101-8 ¾, senior Sean Lehner placed second with an 88-6, and sophomore Jeffery McNelis placed third with an 88-3.

In Javelin, junior Garrett Hunter took second with a throw of 137-4.

Junior Jacob Damon took first in pole vault with a height of 9-6.
