The Lady Eagles soccer team surprised the previously undefeated AAA Lady Tigers in a 5-4 win at Golden Tiger Stadium in Hollidaysburg. Bellwood senior Marissa Panasiti scored four goals to lead all scorers in the game.

“We knew they were going to be a tough team but we just decided to play our game.  It was a great win,” said senior Anna Baran.

Hollidaysburg got on the board first at the eight minute mark when senior Hannah Madara turned a corner kick into a goal to give the Tigers the lead 1-0.

The game went on for another twenty minutes until Bellwood freshman Riley D’Angelo was able to find Panasiti to put a goal in the back of the net for the Eagles, knotting the game at 1-1.

Panasiti then went on a tear, putting three more in the back of the net to record her first hat trick of the season in a fourteen minute span in the first half. Panasiti scored on assists from junior Audrey Bowser, D’Angelo, and senior Anna Baran.  The last of her three goals of the half came with only one second remaining on the clock.

At the half, the Lady Eagles were up 4-1 and it looked like Tyrone might just run away with the contest.

However, Hollidaysburg was not about to give up and they came out strong in the second half.  The Lady Tigers erased the Lady Eagles lead in fifteen minutes. Twenty minutes into the second half, McKenna Hurd tied the game for the Tigers.

Momentum looked to be shifting in the Tiger’s favor but one minute later Bellwood’s D’Angelo hit a shot from 25 yards out putting the Golden Eagles up again 5-4.

The Lady Eagles’ defense was able to hold off the Tigers for the next nineteen minutes to seal the deal for the Eagles.

The Lady Eagles will be back in action Tonight, September 15th, vs. Huntingdon at home at 4:00.
