Minecraft, a game by Marcus “Notch” Perrson and published by Mojang and Microsoft, has grown in popularity among local gamers.

The game can be played on the computer, the X-Box 360, and the i-Pod/ Android.

In Minecraft, players can build structures out of “textured cubes.” Exploring, combat, crafting, and gathering resources are some of the activities that are done in Minecraft.

When asked how many actions can be done in Minecraft, gamer and TAHS freshman Darius Brenneman said, “Unlimited, I can’t even count.” He built himself a house inside of a cave. In Minecraft there are animals, monsters, and villagers.

The terrain in Minecraft can consist of “plains, mountains, forests, caves, and various water bodies (oceans, lakes, ponds, etc.).”

The objective of the game is to survive and have fun. You can play it alone or with friends.

Zach McCarthney, another gamer and TAHS freshman says he plays Minecraft “because it is fun.”  The first thing he did was chop down a tree.

In Minecraft a complete “day” is a full 20 minutes in the real world. Animals spawn during the day, and the monsters spawn in dark places or at night.

There are three settings to the game. These settings are survival, hardcore, and creative.

For the survival mode, you must gather supplies and build shelter before night, when the monsters come out to kill you. In creative mode, you don’t need to worry about health, gathering supplies, and health. You can fly and build with unlimited supplies. Hardcore is just like survival, except that when you die, you are forced to delete your world.

Stevie Lucas, also a gamer and TAHS freshman said the first thing he did in the game was “dig a hole.” The deepest part of the Minecraft world is when the player hits bedrock. The depth varies depending on where you dig and how far down you are in your location before you started digging.

Terry, I loved this game review! It is a very fun-filled game and I love to play all night! One time, I spent 12 hours straight building a village!!! Do you have XBOX? If so, we can pull all-nighters and play together(:
