EE: What inspired you to become a teacher?

MM: I chose to teach because I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives. I have always loved math, so becoming a high school math teacher fulfilled all of my goals.

EE: How long have you been teaching?

MM: This year is my 25th year. I am also the co-adviser for Tyrone Prom which is such an enjoyable thing to plan out.

EE: Have you always taught at Tyrone? If not, where else?

MM: I have always taught at Tyrone. I loved it here as soon as I started and I have never wanted to teach anywhere else.

EE: What is your favorite memory as a teacher?

MM: My favorite memories over the years have been seeing all of the students dressed up  and enjoying the prom. My other favorite memories are seeing students’ “Ah-Ha” moments when everything clicks for them.

EE: If you weren’t teaching right now, what do you think you would have done with your life?

MM: I would have become a photographer. I love taking pictures of people and new places.

EE: Where did you attend high school?

MM: Altoona Area High School.

EE: Where did you attend college?

MM: Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

EE: What’s your favorite book?

MM: I love to read a variety of books. I could never choose just one.

EE: What is your favorite sport and sports team?

MM: My favorite sport is the current sport that any of my children are participating in. So, of course, my favorite team would be their teams.
