Local FFA members fair well at Huntingdon Fair
The smell of fair food and the lights and sounds of the carnival rides at the Huntingdon County Fair maybe gone, but the experience Tyrone Area FFA members had during the fair will last a life time.
Tyrone Area FFA members not only showed livestock this year, but also entered class projects in Johnson Hall. The week concluded with the Huntingdon County Jr. Livestock Sale and exhibits, checks and ribbons being picked up by all competitors.
“The fair is a place that friends and families come together from year to year to cheer on others. It is no different for Tyrone Area FFA members. Each year I have more and more members either compete or just come and attend the fair to support their friends. What I am amazed about the most is how the students who are showing grow each time they enter the show rings and maintain a positive attitude” said Tiffany Hoy, Ag Educator/FFA Advisor.
Hoy compared this process to a small business. The members are learning the entrepreneurial skills of developing and marketing a product with the hopes of making a profit. Hoy said that’s what keeps all the members motivated yearly.
The fair’s theme was “Treasure the Memories.” The Tyrone Area FFA Members will truly treasurer the memories of raising animals, competing in Johnson Hall, helping other members and competitors, and most of all having their family, friends, alumni, and teachers supporting them throughout the entire process.
