Eleven Tyrone Area FFA members applied to be a part of the 2020-2021 Tyrone FFA officer team. Due to the hybrid schedule, the candidates had to go through three rounds of online interviews also had to submit a Google Form in order to apply for leadership positions.

“They were smart ways to conduct the interviews in the time where person-to-person interactions are to be limited. Also, I have used Flipgrid before so I was familiar with it and it was easy to use,” junior Sentinal Jillian Williams said.

Although there were some complications, all of the candidates showed great leadership qualities and capabilities to be on the officer team.

On October 21, the nominating committee made their final decisions and named the 2020-2021 Tyrone Area Officers. They are: Historian – Jillian Williams, Sentinel – Kaitlyn Houck, Reporter – Elizabeth Buck, Treasurer – Rayann Walls, Secretary – Grace Peterson, Vice President – Karly Diebold, and President – Garin Hoy.

The chapter unanimously voted for the slate of officers.

“I know there were great candidates who ran for office, and I’m honored to have been elected as one of seven officers. I cannot wait to see what the chapter accomplishes this year,” Treasurer Rayann Walls said.

“It will give me a great opportunity to continue to learn to work with a team of varying personalities. I am grateful to be able to serve our members.  I also hope this will help build my confidence, public speaking, and knowledge of the Ag industry as I would like to serve as a State FFA Officer after graduating high school,” said senior FFA President Garin Hoy.
