Lady Eagles take care of business against Clearfield

Engle only 76 points away from her 1,000th

In their first road game of the season, the Lady Eagles travelled to Clearfield to play the AAA Bisons.  Tyrone played solid defense and used a very effective transition game on their way to a solid 66-40 victory.

Perhaps as a result of playing away from home for the first time this season, the Lady Eagles stumbled a bit in the first but were able to recover nicely before the half.

They came out a little slow. We need to be ready to go right from the start on any given night, especially on the road

— Head Coach Luke Rhoades

“They came out a little slow [in the first quarter]. We need to be ready to go right from the start on any given night, especially on the road,” said Coach Luke Rhoades.

Despite having a slow start, Tyrone only trailed one time the entire game and that was on an early free throw. After that, they never looked back. Coming out in a press, the Lady Eagles were able to force 33 turnovers from the Bisons and were more than capable of scoring multiple times in transition.

The Lady Eagles pulled ahead 34-18 by halftime, and left room for much of their bench to see a lot of playing time in the second half.

“It may not have been a close game, but they battled against us tough and pushed us around until the end,” said Christine.

Kasey Engle reeled in a game-high 22 points, bringing her career total to 924 on her mission to 1,000. Finnley Christine added 18 points while Alexis Cannistraci led the team with seven rebounds.

Rachel Glenny led the Bisons with 12 points and ten rebounds.

Tyrone travels to Central this evening looking to improve their record to 6-0 in another league match-up. Central (3-1) will be one of the better teams the Lady Eagles have seen so far. JV tip off is 6:00, and Varsity at 7:30.
