The Lady Eagles knocked off the Homer Center Lady Wildcats 7-5 for their first win of the season Saturday, April 25th. This was the the Lady Eagles softball team’s win since May 2013, and they took 3rd place at the Southern Huntingdon tournament.

“I couldn’t be more proud of the girls,” said Head Coach Peter Baran, “They have worked so hard for this win, and I am so happy for them. Anna pitched an awesome game, and Emily was tremendous behind the plate.”

Junior Anna Baran was able to record the win for the first time since her freshman year. Baran threw 7 strikeouts and had three hits.

“It felt good to finally get our first win. It was such an exciting time for not only the team, but also our parents and fans. I couldn’t ask for a better group of girls to play with,” said Baran.

Freshman Emily Hamer and sophomore Madi Grazier were chosen for the All-Tournament team. Hamer threw out three girls at second base and had four hits, and Grazier had four hits in two games.

Also, senior Heidi Walls, senior Shannon Gearhart, junior Finnley Christine, sophomore Hailey Durbin, sophomore Allison Hosko, and freshman Grace Gensimore all had multiple hits.

The Lady Eagles will be back in action tonight vs. the Clearfield Lady Bison, at 4:30pm in Clearfield.
