Lady Eagles Lose to Bearcats

The Tyrone Lady Eagles soccer team traveled to Huntingdon last Thursday and returned home with a 2-1 loss after a hard-fought game.

Within the first half, the Lady Eagles came out aggressive and with lots of intensity. They immediately started connecting passes and worked the ball towards Huntingdon’s defensive end. The ball was mostly kept on the Bearcats’ side of the field. The half remained scoreless until junior Eliza Vance was able to make a break towards the goal within the seventh minute of the game.

The play began with a midfield pass to right outside striker, junior Avalyn Moore. Vance saw Moore dribbling the ball up the right side of the field and started crashing towards the right post of the net. Moore then passed the ball into the box, which allowed Vance to take a small touch into the bottom right corner of the net.

For the remainder of the half, Tyrone continued to hold possession of the ball and took many more shots on goal. The Lady Eagles led Huntingdon all the way up to the last two minutes of the half.

With only two minutes remaining in the half, Huntington’s Staley took possession of the ball and took a shot at goal. Tyrone’s keeper caught the ball in the air but dropped it, and an unlucky goal was scored when the ball rolled into the net.

The half ended with a 1-1 tie, but there was still time for both teams to make more plays and take more shots at the net.

Tyrone came back strong, but Huntingdon took possession of the ball early into the half and scored their second goal. Huntingdon’s midfielder Weidel was able to pass the ball over the defensive line and lead Staley straight towards the net.

The Lady Eagles continued to hold possession for the remainder of the half and took many shots on Huntingdon’s goal. None of Tyrone’s shots were able to hit the back of the net, leaving Tyrone with a 2-1 loss.
