Lady Eagles fall to Lady Rams in conference match

The Lady Eagles traveled to Penns Valley Tuesday night with the opportunity to take the 3rd place in the Mountain League, but fell short when a Penns Valley shot found the back of the net with 58 seconds left, breaking a 1-1 tie.

Battling the rain, neither team could seem to find the net for the first 67 minutes of the game.

With 13 minutes left in the game, Penns Valley’s Corman was able to find the net on a corner kick to take the lead 1-0.

Nine minutes later, Bellwood senior Marissa Panasiti found Bellwood freshman Riley D’Angelo at the net to finish and tie the score 1-1.

Both teams were expecting to go into overtime, but the Lady Rams were able to find the net outside the 18-yard box with 58 seconds left to end the game, 2-1.

Although the Lady Eagles out shot the Lady Rams 14-6, their keeper kept the Eagles out of reach.

The Lady Eagles will be back in action, Thursday, October 1st, in Philipsburg, against the Lady Mounties at 6pm.
