Lady Eagles cruise past the Titans 70-41

Kasey Engle averages 24.3 points per game as the Lady Eagles improve to 3-0.

Engle goes for the steal.

The Lady Eagles improved to 3-0 after reeling in a 70-41 win over the Lady Titans on Saturday night at home.

The Lady Titans had a plan from the start to take away Tyrone’s two leading scorers, Kasey Engle and Finnley Christine with a trick defense. Little did they know, Tyrone has other impressive shooters outside of the two. Connecting on nine three-pointers Saturday night, the production from Emily Lehman, Marissa Sprankle, Madison Noll, and Sydney Shaw was no match for their junk defense.

Our girls came and shot the ball well and our pressure on defense forced turnovers which led to baskets

— Luke Rhoades

“Our girls came and shot the ball well and our pressure on defense forced turnovers which led to baskets,” Coach Luke Rhoades stated.

Their balanced scoring continued throughout the game and Tyrone had ten girls scoring points, which doesn’t always happen in the Lady Eagle’s offense. Engle scored a game-high 24, Christine added 12 and Lehman, Sprankle, Shaw, and Noll all combined for 27.

One of their main focuses this season is ‘doing the little things’ and they were able to do just that. Maqqel Kosoglow and Bobbi Miller came off the bench in the fourth quarter and were able to score their first varsity points in this 2015-2016 season.

“We love when we can come off the court in the fourth and let out JVs go in and finish it strong. Bobbie Miller went in the game, scored three points and even took a charge,” senior Finnley Christine added.

The Lady Eagles will be back in action Wednesday night at home in a Mountain league match up against the Huntingdon Bearcats, JV tips off at 6:00 and varsity at 7:30.
