Inside the huddle with Seth Umholtz: Richland edition

Every week senior captain Seth Umholtz gives his unique perspective on the Golden Eagle football team. This week’s installment is his last. Thanks to Seth and good luck in the future from everyone on the Eagle Eye staff!

Another great season of Tyrone Golden Eagle football came to an end last Friday night at the Richland Ram’s football field.

The game was very emotional for every member of the football team—especially the seniors.

Before the game, I stressed to my teammates that no matter what the scoreboard read after the game—whether we had won or lost—that they were to come off the field with their heads held high and no regrets.

I truly believed that we had a very good chance of winning the game Friday night and up until the last couple minutes of the game; we still had a shot at victory.

Halftime was filled with high spirits as we were only down 10 points. The previous week against Bald Eagle we were down 14 points at halftime and came back in the second half to win the game. Due to that, we knew that the game was very much within reach still at that point.

Unfortunately, we were unable to repeat a second half comeback. When the clock hit 00:00, Richland had punched their ticket to the District Championship Game and our season was over.

There was more than one teary eye in the locker room after the game as there is every year. This past season was a great season and I hope a fun one for all the football players and fans. There were highs and lows, but the bond that was formed between the guys on the football team is a strong one that will last forever.

Each member of the football team this year has now joined a brotherhood of men that have suited up in a Tyrone Golden Eagle football jersey and they will forever be a part of that fraternity. There is not a group of people in this world that I would have rather played with this season than the guys on the team.

This is the last installment of Inside the Huddle for this year, but I hope that it is carried on throughout the years.

I hope you enjoyed reading them throughout the season!
