Happy Holidays OR Merry Christmas?

Happy Holidays: a simple polite phrase, or evidence of a sinister “War on Christmas”?

During this joyous holiday season, some people seem to have misconstrued the meaning of this statement.

I understand that a lot of people celebrate Christmas and it can be easy to forget the many other celebrations that occur during December. I just don’t find it appropriate or necessary to attack or dismiss those who say Happy Holidays.

In any given year, there are approximately twelve to fourteen holidays observed during December. The most commonly observed holiday is obviously Christmas, but there are still millions of Americans who also celebrate other holidays around this time.

Personally, I think it’s rude to ignore people with different beliefs.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that you can’t be proud to be a Christian or that you celebrate Christmas but, it’s simply not fair for you to just act like other holidays don’t exist.

Happy Holidays was never meant to be a phrase to diminish or take away from Christmas, it is simply something to say so everyone can feel included during this joyous time of the year.

Happy Holidays to all!
