This week the Lady Eagles soccer team soared past the Philipsburg Lady Mounties, but fell to the Penns Valley Lady Rams.

On Wednesday, September 24th, the Lady Eagles beat the Lady Mounties 2-0.

Twenty minutes into the first half Tyrone senior Carrie Vance found the back of the net on a pass from Audrey Bowser making the score 1-0 at the half.

With 18 minutes to go in the second half, junior Madison Noll played a ball to Vance to make the score 2-0.

Senior keeper Alayna Roberts posted 11 saves, making her first shut-out of the season

“The girls dominated the game,” said Head Coach Bruce Makin, “Carrie Vance had both scores and Alayna Roberts posted her first shut out (this year) as the Lady Eagles keeper.”

However, on September 22 the tables were turned as Lady Eagles lost 2-1  against the Penns Valley Lady Rams in overtime.

Penns Valley’s junior Destiny Andrus scored 23 minutes into the first half, giving the Lady Rams a 1-0 lead.

The Lady Eagles defense was effective for the rest of the half, limiting the Lady Rams to a 1-0 lead at halftime.

Six minutes into the second half, sophomore Audrey Bowser was tripped in the 18 yard-box, resulting in a Tyrone penalty kick.  Senior Carrie Vance put the free kick in the back of the net, making the score 1-1.

Both the Lady Eagles and the Lady Rams held each other for the rest of regulation, causing the game to go into overtime.

Only three minutes into overtime the Lady Rams senior Valerie Kubalak scored,  giving the Lady Rams the victory.

“It was a  hard fought game that either team could have won. We fell short on a controversial call in over time,” said Makin.

The Lady Eagles will be back in action on Monday, September 28th in Tussey Mountain against the Lady Titans, and Tuesday, September 29th in Central against the Lady Dragons.
