Eagles soar over Highlanders in 2-1 nailbiter

The boys soccer team defeated the Cambria Heights Highlanders 2-1 on the road yesterday.

The game started off slow for both squads with good defensive efforts and goalkeeping.

Our play was sloppy but were gonna work on it in practice.

Very few shots were taken let alone on target from both sides.  The game was scoreless in the first half.

“Our play was sloppy,” said Tyrone head coach Nick Miller, “but were gonna work on it in practice.”

The scoring started early in the second half with a 55th minute goal from Noah D’Angelo making the score 1-0 Tyrone.

“I was relieved  to score first after a tough first half,” said D’Angelo.

However, the Highlanders struck back shortly after with a 68th minute goal to tie the game.

Tyrone goalkeeper Anthony Politza had 10 saves.

“I was just doing what I’m supposed to,” Politza said.

D’Angelo scored with one minute left to carry the Eagles to a 2-0 record for the week.

“It was such a good feeling to win because of all the frustration throughout the game because of our sloppy play, the score should have been 5-0,” said D’Angelo.
