The Drivers Licence centers will reopen when the county they are in moves to the “Yellow” phase for the COVID-19 guidelines.

Many students who are eligible for drivers permits and licences have been inquiring about the status of tests and behind the wheel training.

When the county officially moves to yellow, DMV centers will reopen and students will be able to take their permit tests.

However, according to the DMV website, when Driver License Centers reopen, services will be in high demand, and customers should expect longer than normal waits.

Students applying for their permit must have a physical completed (found on the back of the application) in advance of the permit test.

Behind the wheel training and testing will not resume again at Tyrone High School until the county moves to “Green” in order to ensure the safety of students and instructors.

When the district has put into place an adequate system they will notify students and families through all available media contacts.

In the meantime, student drivers should be sure to get as many opportunities to practice their skills as possible. The parallel parking area behind the HS is currently open and available.
