Dragons Get the Best of Lady Eagles

Lady Eagles fail to slay the Dragons falling to Mountain League rival

Despite a team-high 20 points from junior Sydney Shaw, the Lady Eagles were unable to slay the Central Dragons on Friday night falling 54-43 to their Mountain League rival.

Central’s Erin Brumbaugh led all scorers with 21 points and Cassie Mock also hit double figures for the Dragons with 10.

The teams were evenly matched in the first quarter, neither team able to gain make any real runs to take a commanding lead. The first quarter ended with Central leading 17-14.

Sophomore Mia Kosoglow contributed early and often in the first quarter, scoring 6 of her 8 points in the opening frame.

Tyrone picked up the pace in the second quarter outscoring Central 13-9, taking a 27-26 lead going into the half.

Central came red hot in the third quarter, putting up 15 points and holding the high powered Lady Eagle offense to only 6. The third quarter came to a close with Central holding a 41-33 lead.

The Lady Eagles tried to muster a comeback getting the score as close as 49-46, but the Dragons sunk their free throws shutting down the Eagle’s comeback bid.

With the loss, the Lady Eagles fell to 1-2 on the season and own a 1-1 record in the highly competitive Mountain League.
