Community Pharmacy of Tyrone, in cooperation with the Tyrone Area School District, will offer the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine at Tyrone Area Middle School gymnasium on Sunday, April 18th, from 3 pm to 7 pm to anyone 18 years of age or older.

According to Community Pharmacy COO and pharmacist Bill Faust, there are 400 appointments available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Faust has seen high demand for the vaccine and hopes to fill all of the available spots for the clinic this Sunday.

Most people are very anxious to be vaccinated

“Most people are very anxious to be vaccinated,” said Faust.

Faust said that Community Pharmacy has vaccinated over 3500 people at their Tyrone location, and over 7500 total between the Philipsburg and State College location.

“I reached out to Ms. Estep to see if she would like to partner with Community Pharmacy and host the site. She said she would be happy to do so. We have partnered with other local school districts, Bellefonte Area and Bald Eagle Area, and things went really well,” said Faust.

About forty percent of Pennsylvania’s population have received at least one dose of vaccine, according to the New York Times. This ranks Pennsylvania tenth in the US for the portion of its population who have received at least one vaccine dose.

Faust and his employees have already been vaccinated and he encourages everyone to do the same.  The virus has been on the upswing in Blair and Centre Counties over the past several weeks.

“I want to thank the school district for hosting this event and volunteering their time and space for the community,” said Faust.
