Eagle Eye: How did you first get involved in this sport?

Erika: We used to have track and field days in grade school, and I loved them. When I entered middle school, I decided to join junior high track and field. The rest is history.

EE: What advice would you give to younger athletes?

Erika: Fall in love with the process. You’re not going to have a game or meet every day. 98 percent of your time is at practice. Learn to love it, and you’ll always succeed.

EE: What are your future goals?

Erika: I plan to attend college to get a degree in Aerospace Engineering while competing on that school’s track team. After that, I hope to compete in the Olympic Trials and one day be in the Olympics.
