Three minutes into a conference game with the Clearfield Bisons, the Lady Eagles suffered a scare when the team’s second leading scorer, senior Finnley Christine, went down with a knee injury.

Despite one of our top players getting injured, we came together during the second half and played as a team

— Coach Rhoades

Following the injury the team had some difficulty regaining focus and went into halftime down 28-27.  At halftime Coach Rhoades challenged his team to step up and overcome adversity as a team. The Lady Eagles responded, outscoring the Bison 24-6 in the third frame.

“Despite one of our top players getting injured, we came together during the second half and played as a team,” Rhoades added.

The Lady Eagles were dominant getting points from multiple players in the second half. Engle, who scored a game-high 26 points, had a big third quarter scoring 11 points.

Junior Alexis Cannistraci and sophomore Emily Lehman both added 11 points while freshman Sydney Shaw chipped in seven.

The Lady Eagles pulled out yet another Mountain League victory outscoring Clearfield 62-48. They remain undefeated in the league (10-0) and improved their overall record to 15-1.

Christine hopes to return to the court as soon as possible.  The Lady Eagles will be back in action Friday night in another Mountain League match up against the Bellefonte Lady Raiders. Tip off is at 7:30.
