The Lady Eagles Soccer Team

The Lady Eagles varsity soccer team looks to improve on their record and short playoff run from last year.  The team has reason to be confident as they a great mix of youth and experience this year.  They return ten starters from a season ago, which will provide the team with experience and competitiveness.  They also have six freshman on the squad, several of which will be called upon to make an immediate impact.

Barring injuries, the team is looking to compete for the Mountain District Conference title and prepare to make a run in the District 6 competition

According to head coach Bruce Makin, the 2015 Lady Eagles soccer season will be full of surprises.

“Barring injuries, the team is looking to compete for the Mountain District Conference title and prepare to make a run in the District 6 competition,” said Makin, “It will be exciting to see which way the team makes the soccer ball bounce!”

The team will be led by seniors Anna Baran, Maddie Noll, Hannah Bowser, and Bellwood’s Christina Kowalski, Marissa Panasiti and Regan Plowman.

Led by seniors Baran and Plowman, the entire starting defense returns this season.  As a result, Tyrone will likely look to play a defensive style.

Freshman Riley D’Angelo hopes to add some spark to the offense and will be looked on to help replace Vance.

Fellow freshman defenseman Lizzie Ake and striker Brianna Rieter should also make an impact on this year’s team.

Goaltender Maddie Noll gained some valuable experience last season when thrust into the starting role due to injury and looks to help contain the opposition.

“I have high expectations for the season,” said Noll, “I believe the amount of talent, determination, and teamwork that is displayed at practice should reflect the same this season.”

Last year, the girls soccer team finished with a winning 10-9 record and made the District playoffs for the third consecutive year. They lost 2-1 to Bedford in the 1st round of playoffs.

The season opens tomorrow at 10:00 am at home vs. West Branch.
