The Tyrone High School swim team will officially kick off the 2013-2014 season on Thursday, December 12 on the road against Central Mountain.

The team has grown this year, especially on the girls’ side.  As a result Tyrone will have swimmers in the water in almost every event.

Due to cooperative agreements with other school districts, the swim team roster consists of swimmers from Tyrone, as well as Bellwood and Bishop Guilfoyle.

The girls’ team consists of Emily Hanwell, Emily Nagle, Amanda Thomas, Anna Wolfe, Hannah Cherry, Mikayla Harris, Rachael Harris, Samantha Aungst, Angela Wilkins, Emily Beam, Jordan Wiser, Kayla Bigler, Mikayala Diebold, Alli McCaulley, Allison Hosko, Anna Raabe, Kenna Kerns, Lily Williams, Sage McElwain, and Taylor Hoover.

The boys’ team consists of Gared Dixon, Cameron Parson, Collin Rhodes, Rhett Everhart, and Austin Quinn.

“Lack of numbers with the boys is going to hurt us in many meets. We will need the girls to step up and swim events that may be new for to them,” said the boy’s head coach Tom Getz.

Despite the small size of the boys’ team, expectations are still high going into the season and the team hopes to come away with as many wins as possible.
