Tyrone outlasts Penns Valley 28-19

Defense and ball control was the name of the game in the Golden Eagles low-scoring win over Penns Valley.

Points were very hard to come by for the Golden Eagles. The Golden Eagles average 55 points per game, but that was nearly cut in half.

Tyrone Junior Parker Mitchell scored a game-high 10 points…yes 10 points. Point Guard Jacob Meredith also added 8 points for the Golden Eagles.

Tyrone’s stellar defense held the Penns Valley offense to only 19 points. Although Penns Valley is known for their low scoring games and slow tempo, 19 points is an all time low.

We came out with the win…that’s the most important thing

— Coach George Gripp

“Those guys play at a snails pace, and we played at that pace as well. We came out with the win, though, that’s the most important thing,” said head Coach George Gripp.

Tyrone will play at Juniata on Friday and at West Branch on Monday. They will look to finish the season strong and prepare for the District 6 playoffs.
