Tyrone Boys Soccer Squanders Playoff Chances with Loses to Clearfield and Bellefonte

Tyrone lost in OT to Clearfield 2-1 on Tuesday, and lost to Bellefonte 8-0 on Thursday.

 Clearfield 2, Tyrone 1

Despite a last minute tying goal by Blake Johnston, Tyrone fell to Clearfield in their second overtime game of the season on Tuesday.

Tyrone came out of the gate strong defensively and offensively. There were multiple chances by both sides in the first half, but neither team could convert.

Clearfield quickly took the lead five minutes into the second half after they were able to score a header on a perfectly placed cross.

With one minute left in the second half Tyrone scored the equalizing goal. Sophomore Owen Shaulis drew a foul within the box to give Tyrone a penalty shot. Blake Johnston finished the shot into the upper right corner to send the game to OT.

Quickly into OT Clearfield scored on a unlucky play in which a ball that would have went out of bounds bounced off an official.

Bellefonte 8, Tyrone 0

Tyrone suffered their worst loss of the season at the hands of Bellefonte on Thursday, along with crushing their playoff hopes.

Bellefonte started out strong and scored back goals in the first five minutes.

Bellefonte went on to score 6 more goals in the second half, most of which came off defensive lapses and keeper errors.

“We didn’t play with passion, I think if we did it would have been a different game”
