Tyrone Boys Soccer Beats Central

Tyrone Boys Varsity Soccer shows maturity in 4-2 win over Central

The young but improving Tyrone varsity soccer team scored four goals on their way to a 4-2 win at Central on Saturday, September 10.

We were able to command the pace of the game, and we came out strong in the second half. That made the difference in the win.

Central scored first but the Golden Eagles were quickly able to equalize on a goal from sophomore Alex Schmoke early in the first half.

Central quickly snatched the lead back after Schmoke’s goal to lead Tyrone 2-1.

The second tying goal of the game came from Corey Johnston off an assist from senior Hunter Jackson to even the score to 2-2 heading into the second half.

Tyrone came out strong in the second half. Hunter Jackson scored off a great shot outside of the 18 that soared past Central’s keeper into the top right corner after an impressive stop by senior center back Aaron Andrews created an opening in the midfield.

Sophomore Andrew Pearson wrapped the game up by finishing on a great solo run up the midfield and was able to sink the ball in the back of the net. The final score was 4-2 Tyrone.

“We were able to command the pace of the game, and we came out strong in the second half. That made the difference in the win,” said sophomore Nick Kosko.
